Anyone can easily simplify his or her life with these free apps for Verizon Wireless' Motorola Droid.

With all of the applications available in the Android Market for Verizon Wireless' Motorola Droid, anyone can streamline their daily life. From an app that can organize reward cards and club cards, to another that can read any barcode that's thrown at it. These apps are among the best free applications available for the Droid that are designed to simplify life.

Barcode Scanner

Barcode Scanner is an extremely straightforward application that has a plethora of functions, like the ability to scan most types of barcodes including 1-Dimensional UPC codes and 2-Dimensional QR codes. For those smartphone users who still shop at brick and mortar stores, Barcode Scanner can scan a UPC on almost any product and compare prices using Google's Product Search service.

The QR scanner feature included with Barcode Scanner can be used to scan all types of QR codes – the kind of code containing a pattern of squares and black lines – to get data about contacts, messages, websites, products, and more. This application is a must-have for everyone, just because many business cards and promotional campaigns are now utilizing this technology to pass out information.

Key Ring Reward Cards

Key Ring Reward Cards is one application that any bargain shopper or money saver cannot pass up. This free application can scan all of a user's store reward cards and club store membership cards, lightening any savvy shopper's key ring. After the user uses the Droid's built-in 5 Megapixel camera to scan the barcode off of the reward card, he will be able to display that barcode on the screen whenever it is needed.

This app completely eliminates the need to carry a dozen reward cards on a keyring, allowing the user to keep all of his reward card information in one place. One caveat of this app, however, is that it can take a bit of time to correctly scan the barcode off of the Droid's reflective screen. Overall, this application is a great tool, despite its minor flaws.

ActionComplete

ActionComplete is a task manager for those who need to have more than a plain and simple todo list. This application is a full task and project manager that allows a user to have very precise controls over various aspects of the projects and tasks that are entered. In the task management system, users can create “actions” and “waits.” Actions are the tasks that the user needs to complete, and waits are tasks that the user needs others to complete for them; projects are a way of organizing multiple tasks and grouping them together.

Actions can store information like the task name, various tags describing the tasks, the people involved, the places the task is taking place, the importance of the task, and other important descriptive details. Projects can also be assigned informative details like name, tags, people involved, etc., but instead of storing information about individual actions to complete, they group together multiple actions to better organize them.

Smart Shopping List

With this aptly named smart shopping list, everyone can easily organize their trips to the store. Shopping lists can be organized by type, and when they are ready to be used, they are assigned to a store. If the user checks items off of the list as he goes through the store, the next time he assigns a list to that store, all of the items will be listed in the order they can be picked up.

This application can be very useful for some Droid owners, and a simple alternative to the traditional paper shopping list, but other users may find that this app is too complicated for them. Depending on how tech-savvy the user is, they will either love this program or completely hate it.

With these free applications for Verizon Wireless' Motorola Droid, anyone can greatly simplify his or her life. These apps are amongst the best free ones available to do the job, and are certainly worth checking out.
