This iPhone application helps users translate important words and phrases in nine different languages.
Seasoned travelers know that despite the best preparation and the handiest little phrase book, sometimes misunderstandings are unavoidable in foreign countries. It seems as if little situations come up several times a day that leave the traveler wondering: "Now how in the world can I explain this?" Even if one knows the correct phrase or word, often it's difficult to pronounce it perfectly with the correct accent, and it's easy to be misunderstood. At times like these, flash cards or photographs would come in handy. This is the concept behind the iPhone application Point Don't Shout. Rather than bellow "serviette!" at top volume, watching the French waiter shake his head in confusion, the foreigner can simply point to the word on his iPhone, accompanied by a picture of a napkin. Language Translator for iPhonePoint Don't Shout is a pocket translator ready to help in any situation during traveling, from emergencies to fun local phrases. The app is simple to use; the user simply enters the first few letters of the desired word, and then selects one from a generated list. The word is accompanied by a translation into one of nine languages, along with a picture to point at to ensure understanding. Point Don't Shout also helps users learn and memorize their new language with Learn and Quiz modes to practice vocabulary. Point Don't Shout is constantly updated with new words and phrases, currently holding over 750 terms. Users also have the option of browsing the dictionary alphabetically by category.
